Anonymous asked: Why is X-Men '92 a digital only book?
Because that’s the way we chose to do that story, in the same manner as the Infinite Comics we did alongside other past Events.
More accurate answer: it’s not. A print edition comes out about a month behind the digital version.
I would say it is closer to yes, than no. I don’t buy any digital Marvel comics, unless I am buying through a comixology sale. I’ll just buy the print edition, and then get the code for the digital that comes with the purchase. It is a no brainer for me.
But what happens when an important tie-in to the years biggest comic event can only be purchased online the day of it’s release? That is going to put some people to a major decision. The only Marvel singles I buy regulatory are the X-Men. Almost everything else is purchased through trade, or I read through Unlimited.
Now Marvel is telling me I have to buy it through their digital format if I want it the day it comes out. How much do I value that need to get it right now? This is the book that pulls directly from 90s nostalgia. Of all the Secret Wars X-Men books, this one draws from the heart, more than any other. I can’t imagine too many other books that offer Marvel this kind of opportunity to gauge consumer interest in buying a book directly from the digital warehouse.
Plus, xcyclopswasrightx, the Infinte Comics version of X-Men 92 is the way it’s meant to be read. The print version is adapted back to print, and while it works very well–we make sure–it’s not quite the same thing. If you have to choose between the two, I would say go Infinite.
